SEUSSICAL
THE
MUSICAL
June 2005
|
"The musical Seussical
performed by the New York Conservatory for the Arts on June 5
was spectacular. . . . . The stage work that created the perfect
settings, the sounds of musical instruments in the orechestra,
the sweet voices of big and little kids, the imaginative
costumes . . . . The cast played its parts equally well. . . . .
We're pleased that (the UPAC Theatre) is still being used and
preserved for these productions. . . . . We are so happy we were
able to be spectators of this very successful musical
production. "

January 2005
"We
check out student dance recitals and musicals in teen and
collegiate performances up and down the Hudson Valley.
Individual talent abounds, but nowhere else does such a finely
honed ensemble work the boards. Conti has shaped these
kids into crack athletes, lithe and disciplined with something
more than mass frenetic instinct, youngsters whose high-energy
work fuses with dramatic action."
- Review from "Jesus truly a superstar in musical revival"
Daily Freeman Theatre Review by Kitty Montgomery,

"The ensemble is
exceptionally good, balancing tight harmonies and energetic
footwork with nicely realized individual characterizations that
are interesting without being overpowering. The
Conservatory's strength in teaching movement and dance is
evident in many of the numbers. The band is
impressive....top-notch accompaniment of a caliber that rivals a
professional pit orchestra. Overall, "Jesus Christ
Superstar," is a strong ensemble effort that highlights the
impressive talents of the area's youth and is sure to delight
audiences."

November 2004
"My husband, Dr. Martin
Kantor, and I were so impressed with your production of 'Metamophosis'.
The fine performances, sensitive direction and creative staging reflects
professional quality. It was a difficult and ambitious endeavor.
You did Kafka proud!
- Anita K. Kantor, The College at New Paltz, Dept. of History
"
A New York Conservatory for the Arts production of the
Berkoff play, directed by Randy Conti . . . . turns the surreal in this quietly horrifying saga real.
Conti and his cast create an . . . . atmosphere (that) infests so it
envelops the audience . . . . it stands as starkly moving theater."
- Review from " 'Metamorphosis' finds humanity in short supply"
