MUSICAL THEATRE SPOTLIGHT PROGRAM
June 23rd - July 18th*
9:00-4:00 Daily
Ages 7-15
Acting, Dance & Voice - The triple talents
of every strong Music Theatre Performer are explored in a focused four week program
culminating in a fully staged and costumed Musical Performance in the NYCA Cabaret
Theatre.
The Music Theatre Program
consists of daily classes in Acting, Dance and Music - classes which build
technique and a strong working knowledge of the music theatre arts for students who simply enjoy
music theatre performance or for those who want to pursue a career. This program builds
the triple talents of each student in dance, singing and acting catapulting them ahead in
their studies and confidence during the summer months. This four week program culminates
in a Cabaret Performance of selections from
your favorite musicals
where everyone gets the chance to shine
(you are all stars, not just a few leads with everyone else in the chorus)
highlighting the talents of each cast member.

DRAMA SPOTLIGHT PROGRAM
July 21st - August
8th
9:00-4:00 Daily
Ages 7-12
Acting - Focused creativity and
the foundation of every skillful Theatre Performer - joins with Movement for
this three week program which
culminates in a fully staged Performance in the NYCA Cabaret Theatre.
The Drama Program focuses on the
exploration of Comedy and Drama through daily classes which build skills in improvisation,
scene study, character analysis, diction, movement and theatre games. The NYCA Summer
Drama Program is a thorough program preparing young actors with the skills necessary to
become successful stage performers for fun or professionally. This three week program
culminates in a fully staged production.

BAND CAMP SPOTLIGHT PROGRAM
June
30th - July 11th
9:00-4:00 Daily
Ages 11-14
Ensemble
and Solo skills combined with focus and fun - That is
the
foundation for the Instrumental Performer exploring Music in a focused two week program
culminating in a performance in the NYCA Cabaret
Theatre.
The Band
Camp Program is open to intermediate instrumental students who want to have
a fun and rewarding experience as they explore instrumental music for the
entire day for two weeks. While being offered a variety of artistic
explorations in a friendly and relaxed setting, the student will participate
in both ensemble and private instruction building technique, interpretation
and the understanding of music.

Fairy Princess
&
Brave Knight
July 7 - 11

Ages 4-6
This
one week program focuses on story telling of Princesses and Knights through
drama and dance. An excellent introduction to the world of theatre
with creative inspiration and confidence building for the very special
princess or knight in your life. Very
limited enrollment! Each Princess will receive a tiara, wand and tutu.
Each Brave Knight will receive a play armor set.

Creative Music
July 14 - 18

Ages 4-6
Our
Creative Music Program is a fun way of introducing your child to the world
of music. Singing and playing different instruments, the recognition
of rhythms, sounds, storytelling and movement are all involved in this
week's journey. Each child takes home a musical instrument to keep as
their inspiration for a lifetime of music.

GUITAR AND BASS
PROGRAM
July 21st - July 25th
9:00-11:30 Daily
Ages 8-11
A Really Cool
Way to take some Summer time to explore your inner Rock Star. This
week allows the beginner or advanced beginner guitar and bass player to
learn basic open chords and strumming patterns while building confidence on
your way to becoming a soloist or a member of a band. Guitar book
provided is yours to keep. Students must provide their own guitar or
bass.

Swimming in NYCA’s Olympic-size Swimming Pool.

Daily
Outdoor Lunch under the pavilion along with recreation fill the middle hours of each day.
Located in the
Catskill Forest Preserve, members
of the Summer Program enjoy the benefits of natural wildlife and
surroundings outdoors on the Conservatory grounds, while building
performance skills in the classroom and on stage in the NYCA Cabaret
Theatre.
The New York Conservatory for the
Arts operates in accordance with New York State and is certified by Ulster
County.

THE
PROGRAM
The New York
Conservatory for the Arts, a year-round School for the Arts which offers classes in dance,
theatre and music, expands its educational theatre programs during the summer months to
provide for student development through a daily workshop atmosphere. The NYCA Theatre Arts
Workshop offers programs for students ages 4-19 who wish to further their studies of the
Arts in a highly focused, enjoyable environment.
NYCA SUMMER ARTS
The NYCA Summer Arts Theatre Camp,
founded in 1987, is a program committed to providing concentrated classroom and
performance opportunities for highly motivated young performers.
Cast Members are focused upon in
personal development and artistic expression through daily classes in dance, theatre,
music, design and video. Classes, rehearsals and production are guided by a professional
Arts Staff holding degrees in their fields from Carnegie-Mellon University, Ithaca
College, Emerson College, Manhattan School of Music, C.W. Post College, Skidmore College
and New York University, and have worked for such arts organizations as NYC Ballet,
Metropolitan Opera, Tilles Center, and Joffrey Ballet. Daily rehearsals and
production build toward a showcase of student talent through the
presentation of musicals, dramas, reviews and premiere works at the New York Conservatory for the Arts, in the
Hudson Valley, and throughout the United States and Europe. |

PROFESSIONALLY SPEAKING
Many of our
students have gone on to professional work in touring companies, theme parks, Broadway,
Off-Broadway, film, TV and modeling. We at NYCA provide you with the skills, education,
experience and confidence that you need to be successful at your auditions, in the
spotlight and behind the camera.
ADMISSION
Admission to the NYCA Theatre
Arts Workshop is secured upon the completion of an admission form - returned with a
deposit. NYCAs Theatre Arts Program is open to any student wishing to enjoy a summer
