We have explored the East Coast, West Coast, Cruises and Europe - Now for the first time ever in Troupe History, we are bringing you to a hotspot for performers in the Mid-West, Branson, Missouri.

 

 

This fast growing city is becoming an Entertainment Mecca and an employer of Musical Theatre Artists galore.

About the NYCA Troupe

The NYCA Troupe 2010, with performances in Branson, is designed to give cast members the opportunity for advanced study in Music/Theatre/Dance, culminating with the rewarding experience of performing NYCA's newest program on tour.

Established in 1992, a troupe of 8 members traveled to Seville, Spain to represent the United States in performance at the World Expo.photo

Since then, our troupe members have sung and danced their way into the hearts of visitors at Disneyworld Florida, London, Euro Disney Paris, Knott’s Berry Farm, Disney Land California, Universal Studios, throughout Washington DC including the White House, for U.S. Military personnel stationed in Italy, at the MGM Grand and the Hard Rock Cafe in Las Vegas, aboard Carnival Cruise Line’s "Sensation", "Pride" and "Miracle" Disney's California Adventure Theme Park, Palm Springs, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival,Off-Broadway in New York City, NCL's 'Norwegian Dawn" out of New York, NCL's 'Norwegian Wind' out of Honolulu Harbor, RCCL's 'Sovereign of the Seas' to the Bahamas, and the 'Norwegian Jewel' while touring the Europe's Mediterranean Coast.  

Workshop Overview

 

Your Workshop begins on July 26th with 4 weeks of intensive training in Music, Theatre and Dance, working closely with our professional staff in tailor making your NYCA Performance.

 

You record your vocals in a professional sound recording studio.

 

Master your choreography for your  program.

 

Then we fly to Missouri where you will begin your Branson Live! 4 Performance Tour.

 

Your performances will be presented at Silver Dollar City, Branson Landing, on the Showboat Branson Belle and on the Stage of the Branson Variety Theatre.

- A four week workshop intensive at

     NYCA (Monday - Friday, 9 - 5)

- Performance on the Showboat Branson Belle (*A magnificent showboat where you'll perform, dine & take in a show as we travel past the Ozark Mountains on the crystal clear waters of Table Rock Lake!)

 

- Performance as the Opening Act at the Branson Variety Theatre (*The award winning shows at the Branson Variety Theatre are produced and created by David King, who is one of England's most respected international producers. David is responsible for the world wide smash hit "Spirit of the Dance" as well as many other famous shows. At any one time, up to 20 of David's productions are touring the world, including resident productions in Myrtle Beach, Las Vegas, New York, and more!)

 

- Dance Clinic with performers from the Variety Theatre

 

-  Visit to the New Titanic Museum  (A permanent two-story museum attractionshaped like Titanic herself, it holds 400 priceless artifacts in twenty galleries. The structure is anchored in water to create the illusion of the Titanic at sea, designed to give you the sensation of being an original passenger on Titanic’s 1912 maiden voyage.  You can walk an elegant replica of the Titanic's Grand Staircase, touch the frozen surface of an 'iceberg', feel the chill of that fateful "Starry Night", and see the world's largest Titanic ship's model on display!)

 

 

-  Fun at "The Track" (*Home of amazing Go Kart Tracks, Skycoaster, Rides, Mini Golf and Laser Tag!)

 

-  Day at Silver Dollar City Fun Park  (*Home of 30 rides, and craftsman demonstrations - an amazing day of fun!)

 

 

-  Dinner at "Mel's Hard Luck Diner"

 

- Watch a performance at the Variety Theatre

 

- Dinner/Show on Branson Belle Showboat

 

What you need to have:

 

- A statement supporting that there are no medical limitations that may preclude you from participating (form supplied by NYCA)

 

- Provide appropriate footwear, undergarments, and make-up for performance

 

- Provide for souvenir money & additional meals

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS

 

 

photoWho is Eligible for Exemption from the Audition?
 

1)  Anyone who is currently in a professional Music Theatre Program or College and whose major is in the Performing Arts -

2) Anyone who has been in Troupe for 5 years or more -

3) Anyone who has been in Troupe for at least 1 year and provides us with a resume that includes a minimum of 5 years of training and stage experience - will be considered for exemption.

4) Anyone interested in receiving scholarships is not exempt from the audition.

Applications, deposits and resumes for those meeting the above exemptions are due to NYCA by December 15th.

 

Requirements for Audition in Person:

Audition Date:  December 14th, 15th, 16th, and 21st or by Appointment

All auditioning must have a completed application and deposit submitted to NYCA before or at time of audition - no exceptions

 

Prepare the following skills, showcasing your talents:

- A 1 minute non-serious monologue


-
A prepared up-tempo song (English Only) without accompaniment - one verse and chorus, or one verse and bridge


- Any Acrobatic Skills you know well


- A Jazz combination including double pirouettes, high kicks and leaps; about 1 minute in length


- A Tap combination including time steps, wings, and pullbacks; about 1 minute in length

Talent Awards:
Talent Awards are given to the highest scored applicants.  You must audition to receive a Talent Award.

 

Dance & Vocal Captains:
Each year, Dance and Vocal Captains are chosen from the Troupe.  You must be at least 16 years old and have 2 years of NYCA Troupe experience and audition for the position.  Auditions for Captains will be held in February.  If you are interested in becoming a Captain, please inquire about audition specifics or exemptions.  Scholarships are awarded to those who become Captains.

 

    
Requirements for Audition by Video Tape:

Auditions for students out of the 90 mile radius of Hurley, New York may be sent in on video/dvd.

Tape must be received by NYCA by December 23rd with completed application form and deposit.

 

- Video Tape on standard VHS format (not 8mm) or DVD

- Video Tape must run continuously - no editing

- Begin with a close up shot, state your full name and 

 hometown.  Zoom back to full shot and begin audition in 

 order of above requirements (under AUDITION IN PERSON)

 

  - Finish with a statement of why  

  you would like to be a NYCA Troupe Member
