The New York Conservatory for the Arts (NYCA) and all projects offered at NYCA are projects of the Pan American Dance Foundation, a Non-Profit organization the mission of which is to promote, cultivate, sponsor, develop, aid and advance the public interest in, respect and appreciation of the art of dance and the related arts of choreography, music, painting, design and theatre arts through year-round educational and performance projects and programming.

Established in 1986 in Hurley, New York between Kingston and Woodstock, NYCA offers a Music Theatre Performing Arts curriculum educating children ages 4 through adults in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Voice, Acting, Theatre Arts and Instrumental Music.

Performances are presented throughout the year by several NYCA theatre groups: a Repertory Company, a Victorian Caroling Troupe, a Kick Line Girls' Ensemble, Beyond the Edge Boys' Ensemble, a Student Theatre Company, a Theatre for Children by Children Company, and a combined NYCA Theatre Company presenting highly acclaimed theatrical presentations.  Our Touring Troupe has performed at the President's Park at the White House, at US Air Force Bases in Italy during the Bosnian Conflict, in Seville Spain at the World Expo, throughout Europe, the US and in New York City Off Broadway.

Summer Arts Workshop programs fill the months of July and August with Special Performance and Education opportunities for teens and children 4 & up in a Day Camp setting in the Catskill Forest Preserve; a National /International Touring Song & Dance Troupe is offered for advanced students ages 12 & up.

NYCA programs and theatre presentations continue to train and showcase top-notch talent of students and adult performers whose careers have moved on to include performing and technical work on Broadway, Off-Broadway, Television, Film, Theme Parks, Touring Companies and have been accepted into the Top College Performing Arts Programs in the Nation including Boston Conservatory, Brandeis University, C. W. Post LIU, Carnegie Mellon University, Cincinnati Conservatory, Circle in the Square, Emerson College, The Hartt School, Ithaca College, Marymount Manhattan College, NYU Tisch School CAP21, PACE University, Skidmore, Syracuse University, Wagner College, AADA, AMDA, Berklee College, and SUNY schools.  Additionally, graduates and former staff members have gone on to become directors and professors within our community and across the country in studios and on College and University Faculties.

The Pan American Dance Foundation also purchased, enclosed and completed the renovation of the Iconic Woodstock Playhouse.  The 321 seat theatre, now equipped with A/C, heating, full enclosure, dual art galleries, and full tech appointments, opened its doors as a Professional Summer Stock House in June of 2011, returning the Playhouse to its former status as a hotspot for summer theatre and professional theatre.  NYCA Alumni joined the lauded season creating a new venture and dream come true for NYCA and the hamlet of Woodstock.
