4 Ways to Know if the

Actor's Studio is Right for You

1.   At what age is it appropriate to Begin Acting ?
There are many opinions on this subject, and no real answers. Many feel that children have a natural sense of acting and should not be "taught" how to act - that it comes naturally. This may be true, but there needs to be an environment that fosters their creativity.

At NYCA - we offer a professional staff that inspires the creativity of the actor, beginning at age 7. Classes are taught in a professional studio environment at age appropriate levels. A sense of security and trust is provided, allowing the actor of any age to reach their potential.

2.  What type of Technique is Taught ?
There are several different techniques that are used as a reference while teaching Acting. One of the most important factors is that not every technique works for every actor. Our classes are structured with that in mind, we offer many approaches in developing characterization, so that the individual actor may be able to use what best suits them.

3.  Am I the Right Type, will I be forced into a mold ?
Everyone is the "Right Type", we don't force fit our actors into a mold. Of course certain roles call for certain "looks". But the beauty about Acting is that each individual actor brings something different and unique to the role.

We concentrate on what each actor has to offer and don't limit them by asking them to act in a given way, it is for them to find, create, and develop the characters they play on their own.

4.  What types of Performance opportunities are available ?
Few Acting studios have the ability to provide different venues for performance year-round. Having the opportunity to perform in different spaces and places is an advantage to the actor of any age.

We offer performances year-round in Drama, Comedies and Music Theatre for all performing ages in our own 75 seat Cabaret Theatre in addition to the 1500 seat Theatre in Kingston and venues throughout the United States and Europe.
